meet spencer
Spencer McDonald is a father, grandfather, husband, writer, cat lover, and photographer based in Star, Idaho.
Since 2011, he has been creating stunning high-dynamic range images that bring depth and emotion to both Idaho Landscape Photography and Idaho urban photography. His work blends a love for natural scenery with an appreciation for the character, history, and everyday life found in Idaho’s towns and cities.
Before moving to Idaho, Spencer owned and operated Just Listed Photography, a successful real estate photography business in Snohomish County, Washington, where he helped 90+ real estate brokers showcase homes with dynamic visuals, including interior, exterior, and aerial photography. After retiring from Boeing Aerospace in 2020, he devoted himself full-time to photography and writing, continuing to refine his creative voice through vibrant HDR techniques.
Today, Spencer’s Idaho Landscape Photography highlights dramatic mountain ranges, river valleys, and open farmland, while his Idaho Urban Photography captures small-town streets, rustic barns, historic buildings, and community spaces that tell the story of Idaho’s people and places.
He also leads an HDR Photography group at Fine Art America, encouraging creativity and connection among photographers who share his passion. Whether outdoors at sunrise or exploring a hidden back road, Spencer seeks to create images that inspire viewers to pause, appreciate, and rediscover Idaho.
