The abandoned rustic red barn
Good morning…
The main photograph of this abandoned red barn was one of my few landscape photographs so far this year.
Since the beginning of the year, our weather has not cooperated. Here in Southwest Idaho, we have had super cold mornings, foggy days, and a two-week-long inversion. An inversion is a severe overhanging cloud that blocks out the sun and blue skies.
Thus far, we have had no snow down in the valley areas.
I heard we are behind on the snow pack and melt off that fills Lucky Peak Reservoir. This is where our water comes from.
Let’s talk about the above photo. This is a seven-frame capture, merged into one HDR image using HDR Merge in Luminar NEO. Here are the seven RAW files and single merged photo from Luminar.
The first image below is what HDR Merge in Luminar NEO gave me after all 7 frames were merged. I have tried many different HDR editors and have found that HDR Merge in Luminar NEO does the best job if you are seeking more natural-looking HDR images.
The final image below is my final edit using LightRoom Classic and brushes.
I am looking to the Gods to clear up our skies and bring some heat to the days. This will inspire me to get out to find more Idaho beauty and to get to downtown Boise.
An Urban Photography goal for myself this year is to capture 100 urban/street photos. These will probably be single-shot captures. I will still use the same method for editing into dynamic HDR urban photography.
Practice is the elixir to great photography.
